December 5 “World Volunteer Day” which is held by Civil Society Organizations celebrated at Nazim Hikmet Culture and Art Center

December 5 “World Volunteer Day” which is held by Civil Society Organizations and hosted by Yenimahalle Municipality celebrated at Nazim Hikmet Culture and Art Center. after United Nations General Assembly declared December 5 as the “International Volunteer Day” the 27 years, On the day celebrated by 192 countries including Turkey, 110 civil society organizations were given appreciation document because of their contribution to democracy.
Aladdin Yuksel Ankara Governor, Fethi Yasar Mayor of Yenimahalle, Veli Sarıtoprak President of TÜSIAD the, Agah Oktay Guner former minister and President of Turkey Economic and Social Studies Foundation, Rüştü Kazim Yücelen Former State Minister, Nurettin Özdebir ASO President, Ali Yücelen President of TÜGİAD, Barış Aydin Chairman of the TUGIAD in Ankara Branch, A. Fahri Şenyiğit Capital Platform MBD, Levent Gök and Bülent Kuşoğlu Ankara deputies of CHP, artists Metin Senturk, Safiye Soyman and many NGO members were attended to the event.
“THERE ARE 9 THOUSANDS NGO’S IN ANKARA”
Ankara Governor Aladdin Yuksel in his speech at that night, “Number of NGOs in Turkey as of today, approximately 98 thousands and the average number of our people employed at these associations are 9 million, this number is very important. In capital, Ankara there are approximately 9 thousands and the number of the people who are the member of this associations not even more than the fingers of one hand. More than 2 thousands of these are fellow townsmen associations. One person is taking part in three NGO’s in Europe. However, when we returned to us, almost three of thousand people are taking part in the civil society movement, “he said.
GREAT IMPORTANCE TO NGO FROM YAŞAR
Yaşar in his speech stating that he is intertwined with civil society organizations since he took office, “we worked with many Civil Society Organizations during 5 years. Today at the back of the success of Yenimahalle municipality there are dialogues and works with civil society organizations. Civil society organizations are effective organizations in the public domain which are far from the pressure of political authority. Non-governmental organizations which is based on a voluntary, provides a transition from pluralist democracy to participatory democracy. NGOs are the public eye, voice and ear. If we want democracy in our country fully seated, we should attach importance to civil society organizations, “he said.
110 NGOS HAS BEEN CROWNED
Following the speeches, Aladdin Yuksel Ankara Governor, Fethi Yasar Yenimahalle Mayor, Agah Oktay Guner Former Minister, Rüştü Kazim Yücelen Former State Minister, Nurettin Özdebir the ASO Chairman were presented a plaque, while 110 civil society organizations including the capital platform were given appreciation document due to their support to civil society organizations.
