We will drink altogether as a nation but we hope there will be no need for that. Hopefully we will be drinking that holy water of zamzam soon”.
Sert in his speech addressing the general council of TÜMSİAD said of the 70 trillion dollars of trade volume in the world; 64 percent equaling to 45 trillion dollars is in the hands of 14 percent of the population of the world and the remaining 36 percent gets only 25 trillion dollars of this amount.
Mentioning recent economical developments in Turkey, Mr. Sert stated that Israel’s apology from Turkey was an important mark in the history.
“We believe that the presidential system must be functionalized by updating to current conditions”
Regarding the peace process Mr. Sert said; “If anyone is to drink this poison, we will not let you drink it Mr. Prime Minister. We will drink it altogether as a nation but we hope there will be no need for that. Hopefully we will be drinking that holy water of zamzam soon”.
Stating that important notes have been marked on the history regarding the peace process, Mr. Sert said that it appeared as peace will be established in Turkey, which was stage to blood and tears during the past 30 years.
“Turkey should waste the chances it has gained in the recent years. In fact we are worried about the formation of Turkey after the upcoming elections. Therefore we think the AK Party’s decision for limiting the election duration with 3 years should be reconsidered and that the presidential system, which is present in developed countries should be updated according to the current conditions and actualized.
Prime Minister Erdoğan’s Speech at TÜMSİAD General Council Meeting
“The increase in the rate of population should be above 2 percent”
PM Recep Tayyip Erdoğan; “The increase in the rate of our population should be above 2 percent. If we fall below this rate, we will be facing a threat in the year 2040”.
Erdoğan wished all the best for the fifth general council meeting of TUMSIAD held in İstanbul.
Mentioning that TÜMSİAD represents Turkey in every part of the world proudly, PM Erdoğan said:
“I would like to thank you for representing Turkey and our great nation accordingly in every part of the world with your works, stance, attitude and successes. I have learned with great pleasure that TUMSIAD will be conducting two main international activities in 2013. The first one is that hopefully in September they will be organizing TUMEXPO General Trade Fair. Later in June there will be a very important activity; the First International Turkey Health Graduates Congress. I attribute great importance to gathering around 3500 doctors who have graduated from universities in Turkey. I believe such a gathering and re strengthening the ties with graduates from Turkey will contribute a lot to the promotion of Turkey. I would like to congratulate you for your international activities and wish continuation of your success”.
“Economy of Turkey grew 2 percent in 2012”.
PM Erdoğan mentioned it was his duty to thank TUMSIAD’s management and all members for their contribution to the economic growth:
“According to the figures announced early this week, the economy of Turkey grew 2.2 percent in 2012. In a period when developed economies are shrinking seriously and the average growth rate in Europe has fallen below zero, this growth rate is in fact a major success. As I mentioned before, the Belgian economy shrank 0.2 percent in 2013; Czech Republic by 1.3 percent, Italy by 2.4 percent. The growth projection made for Greece is minus 6.4 percent. In this period Germany grew only 0.7 percent, England and USA 2.2 percent and Japan by 2 percent”.
PM Erdoğan continued his speech saying:
“Between 2002 and 2012, the average growth rate for our country during the last decade is 5.1 percent. The GDP was 350 billion TL in 2002; in 2010 we exceeded the trillion limits and in 2012 we achieved 1.4 trillion dollars. Looking from the view of US dollars, our national income was 230 billion dollars in 2002. In 2012, thank to God we achieved 786 billion dollars. Looking at capita per income; in 2002 it was 3500 dollars, in 2012 10,504 dollars in 2012”.
“TÜMSİAD family must be more dedicated in this prospect. This should be underestimated. First of all, the increase in the rate of our population should be above 2 percent. If we fall below this rate, we will be facing a threat in the year 2040, because it would not be possible to achieve development with an aged population. It is rather achieved with a young and dynamic population. The core of economy is human resource. If you have a young, dynamic population that country will run very fast. If we have a strong economy now, it is because we have a young population. We were always taught that “the secret of success in economy is labor, capital, investment and production”. Later I thought all these factors rely on human resource. If there is human there will also be labor, capital, consumption, production; if not, none of these will exist. In addition we have to be in moral sensitivity of this issue. We will grow and be proud of it. We will never fall into abasement”.
“For many years they aimed to cut the fertility of this nation through plots like family planning. Now we say we want at least 3 children for the rise of this nation. We have to achieve this. I want this also from the TUMSIAD family as I keep saying this everywhere. We also have a guest Minister from Morocco here; I also suggest him the same thing; “never reduce your population but rather look for ways to increase it”.
